MDMA are an exciting and diverse
act who began life in 2005 from the early jam sessions of a couple of
friends which eventually evolved into a 6 piece band. However, at the
end of 2006 (during a hiatus) DJ Jonny V (Shaanvir Rehal) left the group
to concentrate on academic studies at University.
With the individual band members personal tastes ranging from Metallica
to Lethal Bizzle, MDMA combine UK flavoured Hip-Hop with catchy Skate/Punk
vibes. While very much unique, the bands sound could be compared to
anything from The Streets to Zebrahead.
Now as a quintet, MDMA have developed and matured their sound. Their
recorded work is melodic and boasts great song writing ability, whilst
live MDMA deliver a heavier Rock sound with an energetic performance
to match - where the focus is really on getting the crowd to match the
bands passion and stamina. MDMA have played a number of prestigious
venues in and around London such as The Clapham Grand, Storm (Leicester
Square) and Club 85 (as part of the BBC Rhythms of The World festival)
